Literacy Coach

 

Maribel Wan grew up in the Sonoran Desert. A native from Tucson, AZ, she graduated with a double major in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She participated in the DC Teaching Fellows program, and received a Master’s in Elementary Education at American University. Maribel’s educational career spans thirteen years; she taught grades PK-K at DCPS and 1st-2nd at Stokes School. She has DC certification in Elementary Education and ESL.  She is a recipient of a Washington Post teacher grant, a Fund for Teachers travel grant, and was just recently accepted to participate in a fellowship with Leading Educators. This is Maribel’s tenth year at Stokes and she is currently the Literacy Coach.  

 

Her hobbies include reading, cooking, and practicing yoga. Whenever possible she likes to travel the world and discover new places.
