Librarian & ELL Coordinator
Lisa Volpe-Jauregui was born in Glen Cove, New York, on Long island. Her grandparents immigrated to New York at the turn of the century. She moved to the DC area as a young teen with her family, and received her undergraduate degree from Trinity College in International Relations. Her senior thesis was written in Spanish about the North American Free Trade Agreement between the US, Mexico and Canada (NAFTA). She spent her junior year studying at La Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. Ms. Volpe completed her master’s degree in Spanish Studies from American University with all of her course work conducted in Spanish. During her college years up to the time she completed her masters, she participated in internships with the following organizations: The Organization of American States (OAS), Amnesty International, and Agencia EFE (The Spanish wire news agency).
2014-2015 was Ms. Volpe's seventh year at Elsie Whitlow Stokes. She was the Sixth Grade Spanish teacher for three years and the Kindergarten Spanish teacher for three years, before becoming the School Librarian and ELL Support Specialist. She enjoys walking everyday, listening to all kinds of music, and traveling to other countries.
