JONAH DAVENPORT
Pre-K Coordinator
Jonah Davenport grew up locally in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He went to Wesleyan University and then, eventually, got a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education at The George Washington University. He has been teaching for 23 years, first in Boston, then in a private school in Bethesda, and for the last 15 years at Elsie Whitlow Stokes. At Stokes he taught Kindergarten for four years, was a Learning Specialist for two years, a third/fourth grade teacher for one year, and the Pre-K Coordinator thereafter. He feels honored to be part of this diverse, vibrant, and caring community.
Mr. Davenport is also a Stokes parent with a daughter in 7th grade at DCI and a son in 4th grade. He is a long-time (ago) soccer player and current coach. A third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Mr. Davenport’s newly installed titanium/bionic hip has driven him to seek new athletic outlets. He is an avid handyman, gardener, and poker player.
