Teacher: 1st Grade

Costia Thomas Karolinski grew up in several U.S. states, France, and St. Thomas. He considers himself a New Englander at heart, but has lived and educated in Washington D.C. for seven years. His interest for education was sparked at a summer language immersion academy/camp co-hosted by Middlebury Monterey Language Academy and Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth where he worked as a Residential Assistant in between his junior and senior years at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Mr. Karolinski moved to D.C. to join City Year  (Americorps) in 2011. From there, he instructed French at the Alliance Francaise de Washington on weekends while serving Ward 8 and 7 populations full time at other charter schools in a variety of capacities. He most recently spent the last four years with the Inspired Teaching School in Edgewood, first teaching middle school Humanities, and then as a Kindergarten - 8th grade Academic Intervention Specialist for the last two years. Mr. Karolinski enjoys playing basketball and soccer on his weekends when he isn’t studying, as well as vigorously supporting the Boston Celtics and West Ham United Football Club.
